Dawid Janowski (1868–1927)
Born in Poland, Janowski was considered around 1900 as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the world. He challenged World Champion Emanuel Lasker three times to matches, including an official World Championship match in 1910. Capablanca himself called him "one of the most feared opponents that can exist".
