Tarrasch's Legendary Winning Streak
The 6th Congress in Breslau 1889 marked the beginning of Siegbert Tarrasch's legendary winning streak – four major international tournaments in a row:
- Breslau 1889 (6th DSB Congress)
- Manchester 1890 (BCA Congress)
- Dresden 1892 (7th DSB Congress)
- Leipzig 1894 (9th DSB Congress)
This series remains unmatched to this day and established Tarrasch as "Praeceptor Germaniae" – the teacher of German chess. Only Carl Schlechter was later able to win three DSB master tournaments as well.
