Tarrasch's Legendary Winning Streak

The 6th Congress in Breslau 1889 marked the beginning of Siegbert Tarrasch's legendary winning streak – four major international tournaments in a row:

  1. Breslau 1889 (6th DSB Congress)
  2. Manchester 1890 (BCA Congress)
  3. Dresden 1892 (7th DSB Congress)
  4. Leipzig 1894 (9th DSB Congress)

This series remains unmatched to this day and established Tarrasch as "Praeceptor Germaniae" – the teacher of German chess. Only Carl Schlechter was later able to win three DSB master tournaments as well.
